Validating a job ensures that your addresses are recognized by Canada Post. Each address is compared and matched against the Canada Post address database.<\/p>

You are provided with two options in iAddress\u2122:<\/span><\/p>

  • Correction and validation of your data<\/span><\/li>
  • Validation only of your data<\/span><\/li><\/ul>
    Correction and Validation<\/span><\/strong><\/div>

    Select \u201cCorrection\/Validation\u201d from the Address Management menu.<\/span><\/p>

    Mailing Date<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

    iAddress\u2122 allows you to enter the date you will be mailing your job. It will correct and validate your job against the CPC data valid for that date. If you have chosen a non-valid date, iAddress\u2122 will display an error message.<\/span><\/p>

    \u00a0Language Options<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

    The following options are available for language:<\/span><\/p>

    • Automatic\u00a0retains the language originally entered in the database by\u00a0individual\u00a0record. If an address has been entered partly in English and partly in French, iAddress\u2122 calculates the language used predominantly within the record and assigns the language accordingly.<\/span><\/li>
    • All English\u00a0converts all addresses to the English equivalent.<\/span><\/li>
    • All French\u00a0converts all addresses to the French equivalent.<\/span><\/li>
    • Language by Province\u00a0will convert Quebec addresses to French and all other Canadian addresses to English.<\/span><\/li>
    • Language Indicator\u00a0will use the field designated as the Language Indicator field (set at job creation time) to determine the language of a record<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

      \u00a0Formatting Options<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

      As well, the following options can be selected by clicking on the box in front of the option. To deselect, click again.<\/span><\/p>

      • Machineable\u00a0formats your address to meet the CPC criteria for machineable mail. This options forces the following formatting options.<\/span>
        • Upper\/Lower Case is set to off (Address all Upper Case).<\/span><\/li>
        • Two Line Output is set to off (only a one line address is returned).<\/span><\/li>
        • Use Accents is set to off (no accents returned).<\/span><\/li>
        • Western Style is set to on (address is formatted to western style to increase readability)<\/span><\/li>
        • Shorten Address is set to on (street types are abbreviated).<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li>
        • Upper\/Lower Case\u00a0converts addresses to UPPER and Lower case equivalents.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

          ***Important!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

          UNLESS YOU CHOOSE THIS OPTION, ALL ADDRESSES WILL BE PRINTED IN UPPER CASE.<\/span><\/p>

          \u00a0Address Line Formatting\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

          • \u00a0No Preference\u00a0the software will select whichever format seems appropriate.<\/span><\/li>
          • \u00a0Prefer 2 Line\u00a0adjusts the database to a two-line format where it is allowed. For example:<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

            • \u00a0Force 1 Line\u00a0is available if you only imported one address line. \u00a0If the software prefers a two line output then the two lines will be joined into one field.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>
              • \u00a0Use Accents\u00a0adds French accents to addresses when French has been selected.<\/span><\/li>
              • Western Style\u00a0formats your address to meet the CPC criteria for Western Style. It has no qualifier for apartment or unit numbers. For example:<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

                • \u00a0Shorten Street\u00a0converts addresses to the Canada Post approved short forms.<\/span><\/li>
                • Update LVR\u00a0standardizes large volume receiver names in your job.\u00a0If “Update LVR” is left unchecked, any extra delivery information that is intended to give the mail room clerks more precise delivery information remains in the address instead of being removed upon correction.<\/span><\/li>
                • Update Valids\u00a0replaces a valid address with a formatted valid address. The format is determined by the options you have selected. For example:<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

                  55 Trafalgar Court\u00a0<\/span>becomes <\/span>55\u00a0Trafalgar\u00a0Crt<\/span><\/p>

                  • \u00a0Minimum SERP Rural Standards\u00a0The default in iAddress\u2122 is to correct \u00a0rural addresses using very strict validation rules. If the Canada Post database contained PO Box information, that information was required to validate or correct the address. However, under SERP requirements, a rural address only needs to have the correct city and Postal Code<\/span>OM<\/span>\u00a0to be considered valid.<\/span><\/li>
                  • Space in Postal CodeOM\u00a0formats your Postal CodeOM\u00a0with a space after the first three characters: A1A 1A1. If this option is not selected, the Postal CodeOM\u00a0will be formatted as A1A1A1.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

                    Validation Only<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

                    Select \u201cValidation\u201d from the Address Management menu. You do not select \u00a0language options with Validation only.<\/span><\/p>

                    \u00a0<\/span>To Run Your Job<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

                    After selecting all your options, click \u201cOK\u201d.
                    To cancel your job while it is running, click \u201cCancel\u201d.<\/span><\/p>

                    \u00a0<\/span>To Undo the Correction<\/span><\/strong><\/p>
