Geocoding will add location information to the data in your current job. \u00a0The Geocoding menu option becomes available only after your job has been validated. The Geocoding screen has a few options for you to choose from.<\/p>

For the first option, you may choose signed, or unsigned degrees.<\/span><\/p>

After choosing the type of degrees, you may simply press \u201cProcess\u201d to have iAddress\u2122 add the latitude and longitude information to your addresses.<\/span><\/p>

As an additional feature, iAddress\u2122 can also use a list of Postal Codes<\/span>OM<\/span>\u00a0and compare them to your addresses. \u00a0iAddress\u2122 will return a list of the distance to the nearest Postal Code<\/span>OM<\/span>\u00a0out of that list provided. \u00a0You may add these Postal Codes<\/span>OM<\/span>\u00a0from a separate file, or add them one at a time manually.<\/span><\/p>

To do this, check the \u201cCreate a distance list\u201d option. \u00a0Next, type a Postal Code<\/span>OM<\/span>\u00a0you wish to add to the list into the text box and click \u201cAdd Postal Code\u201d.<\/span><\/p>

A distance list may be created based on multiple Postal Codes<\/span>OM<\/span>\u00a0as well. \u00a0This feature could be used by businesses who have multiple business locations and they want to mail to the closest addresses.
\u00a0These Postal CodesOM\u00a0can also be added from a file. \u00a0To do this, click the \u201cAdd From File\u201d button.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span>Select your file.<\/span><\/p>

When the desired selection has been made, click the \u201cProcess\u201d button to process your file.<\/p>

iAddress\u2122 will let you know when the Geocoding has completed.<\/p>

To view the Geocoding results, click on the \u201cView Database\u201d option in the \u201cFile\u201d menu.<\/p>

The Geocoding process adds extra columns to your data. \u00a0Scrolling to the right using the horizontal scroll bar you will eventually encounter these columns. \u00a0The columns are:<\/span><\/p>

  • FLG_GEOLAT\u00a0\u2013 The Latitude of the address\u2019 PC.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>
    • FLG_GEOLONG\u00a0<\/span>\u2013 The Longitude of the address\u2019 PC.<\/li><\/ul>

      If you Geocoded with a PC list you will also find:
      <\/span><\/p>

      • FLG_NEARESTPC\u00a0\u2013 This is the nearest PC in the list to the address.<\/span><\/li>
      • FLG_DISTANCE\u00a0<\/span>\u2013 This is the distance from the address\u2019 PC to the nearest PC from the list.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

        After you have your Geocoded results, you can use the filtering tool for targeted mailings. Under the Address Management menu, click on Filter Mailing, and choose the Geocode Filter:<\/span><\/p>

        On this tab you can remove records from your database based on three options:<\/span><\/p>

        • Remove the records that did not Geocode.<\/span><\/li>
        • Remove records based on the distances that were generated from your distance list.<\/span><\/li>
        • Remove a number of records starting from those closest or farthest away from the Postal CodesOM\u00a0in your distance list.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

          You can also view your geocoding report by clicking \u201cReport\u201d in the geocoding menu.<\/p>
