There is still something alluring about receiving a piece of personalized mail sent straight to your mailbox. Today, we are all inundated with copious amounts of electronic mail from places we have shopped, banked, serviced or visited. Therefore, most electronic mail holds little to no personal value in our lives.
Direct mail is tangible, making it more memorable than receiving an electronic message which most people open and delete within seconds of delivery. There still exists about 33% of people who find direct mail the most effective way to remember a service or product. According to the numbers, around 79% of consumers will act on direct mail immediately and 74% of consumers can’t wait to find out how much mail they’ve received. These numbers show there is no doubt that direct mail is far from dead. The personal touch of direct mail is what’s keeping it alive. Humans like to feel special and mass marketing emails are just not doing the trick.
